In my second story, I was mentioned that just now I have to complete my Information System Subject with Associate Professor Dr. Rusli Abdullah. Meaning, maybe many of my article are relate to the particular subject.
Actually, everyday we use the system in our life. System will help for our daily life and also to help us to conduct our job like to run our business. The system is very much important to make sure that the our business are run very efficiency and effectively.
One of the vital system to run the business is the Information System. American business will spend over $540 billion on information system hardware, software and telecommunications equipment. In addition, they will spend another $650 billion on business and management consulting and services-much of which involves redesigning firm's business operations to take advantage of these new technologies. If they don't use the latest information system technology in their firm's that means they are left behind and lost the competitive advantage to the competitor.
An information system can be defined technically as a set of interrelated components that collect (or retrieve), process, store and distribute information to support decision making and controls, in organization. Information System also help managers and workers analyze problems, visualize subjedcts, and create new products.
The strategic business objectives of information systems are described below:
1. Operational Excellence - In order t achieve higher profitability, the firm's may use the latest information systems in their business. The Informations System some of the most important tools available to managers for achieving higher levels of efficiency and productivity in business operations, especially when coupled with changes in business practices and management behavior. Meaning, to make sure the firm's are excellences in their operations, they must seek for the informations system and manage it successfully.
2. New Products, Services, and Business Model - Information system are very important tools for the firm's to create a new products and services as well as entirely new business models. A business model describes how a company produces, delivers, and sell a product or services to create wealth.
3. Customer and Supplier Intimacy - Information System will help the firm's to very much close with their customer. When business really knows its customers, and serves them well, the customers generally respond by returning and purchasing more. Likewise with suppliers: the more a business engages its suppliers, the better the supplier can provide vital inputs.
4. Improved Decision Making - The information system and technologies have made it possible to managers to use real time data from the marketpalce when making decision. Its will help the firm's to increase cost and lost customers causes of poor decision making made by managers.
5. Competitive Advantage - When the firms achieve one or more of these business objective - operational excellence; new product, services, and business models; customers/supplier intimacy; and improved decision making - chances are they have already achieved a competitive advantage.
6. Survival - Information System and technologies are necessities of doing business. Some times these "necessities" are driven by industrial-level chances. For instance, after Citibank introduced the first ATM machines in the New York region in 1977, all the banks in US have regional ATMs and link to national and international ATM networks. Today, the ATMs machines is a necessities for the bank.
